General discussion


I had some songs on a audio cd (i know that its not mp3).
I copied them to the itunes library.
Now how do i convert them to make them mp3 files...with itunes??

is it possible or should i use sonic record or some other software

thank you

This is not the prettiest way, but it will work.
Before importing the tracks into iTunes, go to the Preferences and click on the Import tab. Change the encoding to MP3.
Import the tracks and they will be as MP3.
Change back to AAC when you are done.

As I said, not pretty but it works

One more question can i set the "mail" which comes with OS X tiger to get mail from my yahoo account.

What do i enter for the incoming and outgoing server??

I note that you are overwhelmed with responses so:
If this is at all possible, there should be somewhere on the Yahoo mail site that has this information.
Stop Press: I was correct, the information is there.
In order to do this, you must subscribe to the Yahoo! Mail Premium Services, this is not free.
The Incoming (POP) server account is
The Outgoing (SMTP) server account is

Why switch back to AAC? To my mind, they may be a little bit smaller, but MP3's are fully portable, and compatable with, well, ... everything!

Just my 2 cents.

I meant, change the import settings back to AAC after importing the track.
I'm guessing it was on AAC to start with.
