if it is some sort of app that allows him to open, remotely, iTunes on his computer, get him to reconfigure it again.

thanks but

is it possible to just uninstall iTunes and reinstall? Or does that lose all my music?

Yes, that's possible.

However, I would make a copy of the iTunes library before you do that

Answer
Problem Identified...At least In My Case
Mar 8, 2012 10:28PM PST

I am running a Windows 7 64bit computer with the latest iTunes version (10.6). The problem of perpetual opening of iTunes seems to be related to media keyboards. I have a Logitech G510 keyboard. A few iTunes versions ago, iTunes did not recognize media button inputs from my keyboard. Recent iTunes updates have corrected this, however the keyboard now puts iTunes into a "goofy loop" on closing. When I disable my keyboard profile iTunes stops the cycle.

Hope this helps

Logitech G15

Removing (deselecting) the "Logitech Media Display" in the Logitech Gaming Software did the trick. I guess I will wait for a fix from Apple/Logitech.

Good find!
