ITunes is driving me crazy & it's a short trip!

Jun 28, 2010 2:48PM PDT

I purchased a 120GB IPOD Classic about a year ago. Of coarse ITunes comes with it.

My music and Audio Book libraries are on the hard drive of my Windows XP PC.

I have at least 500 audio books in M4B Format which is required by my IPOD to differentiate books from music. I spend much time & effort managing file names of these audio books for sort and keeping track of the library.

For some reason there have been four occasions when ITunes loses the connection back to the source file on my hard drive. When this happens I have to reindex ITunes then rename the file within ITunes because it does not accept my file names. In fact even the initial copy of files requires renaming the files in ITunes.

There's a lot I like about ITunes but this constant reindexing/renaming is driving me nuts.

Is there an alternative program that does not put me through this pain and agony?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

I had that problem several times because I had the really old version, and I had to completely re-add all of my music. Then, years later, I found this tool. On itunes, when you set it up, and somewhere in the tools or options section, you can choose for it to keep your files organized for you. I chose that and havent had the problem since.
