ITunes/IPod software broken, can't update!

Oct 5, 2007 5:11AM PDT

Computer crashed doing the latest ITunes update.

Now it and the iPod updater won't work at all.

Whenever I try to reinstall manually, it says that I don't have permissions on C:\Program Files\ITunes, C:\Program Files\IPod, and C:\Program Files\Apple Software Updater.

I check and have proper administrative permissions on all of them. I used a utility to get them out of the "Add/Remove List" and ran one of those "cleaning utilities" that is supposed to eliminate orphan links and registry entries, and still no dice.

Everything else works so I really don't want to do a scratch install of Windows XP Pro just to get this to work. My guess is that if I can find some way to get rid of every minute trace of the IPod/ITunes software on my system I can just do a scratch install of that software.

Any advice would be helpful, Apple was not too helpful with this one.....
