If they were, and you followed the instructions when you first turned on your new Mac, then everything in iTunes would have been transferred to the new machine, including albums.
If you missed that question, "do you have any data to transfer from another Mac", how did you move the tracks from one machine to the other?
Consolidating the library on the old machine and then just picking up the entire iTunes music folder would have moved all, including albums.
If the old machine is still around, this is still a viable proposition, if the original iTunes library had playlists in them.
So, all that is besides the point. 8870 tracks in the library.
You could create Smart Playlists and configure them to automatically gather tracks from the library.
For instance; You have a bunch of Procol Harum tracks scattered around the library. Create a Smart Playlist that has the criteria of "Artist is Procol Harum"
As soon as you create it, all the Procol Harum tracks will be put into that playlist.
Repeat as necessary.
The library will ALWAYS have every track displayed as one long list, it is the main storage area, but the playlists will enable you to sort out your music by just about any criteria you want or need.

I recently upgraded from iMac OS 10.4.11 to OS 10.6 and transferred my iTune songs to my new computer--Intel Core 2 Duo. Now, I have 8,870 songs in one big list. I can play them, but I also want to make them into albums. Is there some way to do that instead of adding a new album title in the playlist and then copying songs from the music list those songs that belong in that particular album title?
