ITUNES HELP!!!!

by chynadoll718 / July 22, 2005 12:10 AM PDT

i downloaded the newest version of itunes and quicktime but it keeps telling me "quicktime version 4.2 is installed, itunes requires quicktime 6.4 or later" but i did that and it wont open still. so i tried going to add/remove programs and removing both quicktime and itunes. it uninstalled itunes but it wont uninstall quicktime. it says quicktime uninstalled successfully but its still on my add/remove list! can anyone help? i cant put songs on my ipod cuz of this! i called apple and they told me i have to pay 50 dollars for one phone consultation. thats bogus. i paid enough money for my ipod that i should get phone consultation for free for the rest of my life! lol

Life support.

Hmm, I wonder how I will find (good) people that will stay on the phone at that pay level? Think about it. To lower PC/Mac/iPod prices, the support is now pay as you go.

I see no reversal since most consumers like the lower initial prices.

Best of luck,

Bob

New Quicktime should overwrite old version

This is strange - my Sony laptop came with Quicktime 4 something, and I simply allowed Apple to download the latest version of iTunes and Quicktime (6.5.2)with zero problems. Where did you acquire your earlier version of Quicktime? Did the earlier installation leave a setup.exe file on your PC - depending on where you got the installed version of the program sometimes these files are left on the PC when they should be deleted (or shipped off to backup) and I have experienced your problems with Corel software - seems like a hurdle put in our way by Microsoft!! Quite agree with you that Apple's consultaion fee is exorbitant..........but at the same time in their view you are in the wrong for using a PC!!

Don't take this as a reccommendation to delete ALL setup.exe files - investigate their provenance and if you find an elderly one which has a reference to Quicktime ship it off to a temp directory or a CD and try again.
