Itunes has Disapeared!

Jan 16, 2009 12:13PM PST

I have an older Dell PC (2003) which is almost running out of memory. I just shut down itunes and realized the icon had disapeared! I then tried to open it and it asked to sign a new user agreement (itunes has been on my computer for years).

At the same time my ipod was stolen about a week ago-- so now I'm worried all my music is gone!

I haven't turned off my computer-- and worried that restarting will clear out any remaining 'memory' of my music.

Any suggestions?

even if the program is gone

Your music should still be there. It should be in the iTunes folder in "My Music" on your hard drive, unless you directed iTunes on initial install (or later on) to put it somewhere else. You really should back up your music in several places (cd/dvd, external drive, another computer) so that if you really lose your music on your main pc, you can rebuild your library.

All your music should still be there.

My guess is that your computer automatically upgraded from iTunes 7 to iTunes 8. That's why it asked you to renew the user agreement.
