iTunes error code -50 when trying to open iTunes

Apr 15, 2011 6:12PM PDT

Following a recent tweak by my employer on my laptop i can now no longer open iTunes and get the following message "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (-50)"
iTunes support have suggested it's a firewall, virus software issue but as far as i can see the firewall is set to allow everything through....

This is now driving me up the wall - does anyone have any suggestions please???

What version of iTunes are you using?
What Operating System are you using?
What AV software, if any, are you using?
Is there a Company Firewall?

Error code (-50)

I'm not sure exactly what it was - something to do with the domain? As you can see i am not very technical when it comes to this stuff. I have uninstalled iTunes and everything connected to it and reinstalled so i believe i am using version 10.
The operating system is Windows 7 and there is currently no AV software running nor is there a company firewall - i have checked that the Windows firewall is allowing iTunes through...

I find some of that a little unlikely.
