Question

itunes download locks up my computer in Vista

Sep 10, 2011 6:15PM PDT

When I download itunes my Toshiba laptop (Vista) it only boots to 'please wait' and will not go further. I then have to restart in safe mode and restore to before the itune download. I have reduced my popup blocker to minimum as recommended. Nothing seems to work. Expert advice very welcome.

Answer
Since it's just downloaded and not installing.

It's a safe bet that other downloads (we are not talking installing?) fail I'd look to what changed since downloads started to fail.

itunes

Thanks, I was not explicit enough, its the installation not just the download. I've been using itunes for my first experience with an ipod. Podcast downloads to it have been ok. I just have to leave my computer on all the time. If I switch off, I have to restore it in safe mode then reinstall itunes. What a pain. My suspicion is an interaction between itunes and a windows update but I'm no expert.

My last Vista laptop is fine with iTunes.

So I can't say it's that. However I am finding folk install more than one antivirus or overlapping protection or outdated apps (Teatimer for example) and then have install issues.
