Sep 26, 2006 9:01AM PDT

Has anyone else noticed that the new iTunes software crashes Outlook? It's very frustrating. Any suggestions?

You might get a better response on a Windows Forum

this is a Mac forum and Outlook is not one of the programs that runs on a Mac.

um...

This is the Macintosh forum. Apple Macintosh hardware and OSX operating system.

Outlook is a Microsoft product and while it *might* run on Macintosh hardware running Microsoft Windows Operating System, I have a feeling it is not. Rather, a traditional Microsoft "pc" running Windows OS of some flavor along with applications on that machine is having an issue with iTunes interaction.

iTunes is an Apple application that runs on Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh OSX.

So... Presuming this is an iTunes issue with Windows OS, then the appropriate forum is indeed the appropriate flavored Windows forum... It is expected that is where anyone else with a similar issue and perhaps resolution might be. Generally speaking, the Mac forum would be where Macintosh hardware and operating system discussions happen. This is neither.

MS Outlook is not Mac. iTunes is not Mac. This is the Mac forum. See the problem? It's kind of like asking a person really familiar with Windows (but little Unix skill) to diagnose and resolve a Unix issue. They can run on the same computer, but the knowledge requirements are vastly different.

mrmacfixit was merely assisting you to what is likely a better forum where you might find you answer. Have you contacted Microsoft or Apple? They may have available information, too. After all, those companies are the authors of the software in question. And if yours is a common problem, there would be lots of people screaming for assistance. Very loudly. At the PRODUCERS of the software.

If I find anything, I'll post it... to the Windows forum... since this impacts Windows users and not Macintosh users. And if you find anything, would you please post it there, too? I am sure other Windows users would be interested in whatever you might find on this.

Um?Thanks for the help?

Here's the deal, up until iTunes 7, ''Microsoft?s Outlook'' and ''Apple?s iTunes'' got along just fine. Now that we upgraded to iTunes 7 some of us are experiencing crashing problems when trying to sync with Outlook. The problem software here is iTunes; it's the one that?s crashing...not outlook!

?And if yours is a common problem, there would be lots of people screaming for assistance. Very loudly. At the PRODUCERS of the software.?

IT IS AND WE ARE!!! Do a web search to see for yourself!!!

?This is the Mac forum. See the problem? It's kind of like asking a person really familiar with Windows (but little Unix skill) to diagnose and resolve a Unix issue. They can run on the same computer, but the knowledge requirements are vastly different.?

I?m sure the Microsoft forums feel the same way, but they at least try and help!!!

Um?We?re merely looking for help in ALL areas?see?

Sorry for wasting ?your? time.

Um...have a good day and...Um...goodbye.

A little rant...

Is tolerable. I feel that some of that is needed so the frustration can be vented (not too much please) and then we move to the issues and see if others know a cure.

But in this case they may have picked the wrong forum since it appears no Apple computer is in use.
