Yet more reasons to dislike the Bloated pig software package that is iTunes 6.0.3 for Windows.
First off initial connectivity with my shiny new iPod 60Gb is extremely slow to establish and erratic. When syncing is done it disconnects completely even in disk mode. When syncing is set to manual the iPod driver forcibly disconnects the iPod from the system in an apparent attempt to defeat programs like Anapod Explorer which I use heavily.
I tested this on two different systems with 3 different iPods and found the same behavior exists on all systems when upgraded to iToonz 6.0.3 that behavior does not exist with 6.0.2.
Apple support suggested the behavior was system specific and indicated I should check my system for viruses. I asked tongue in check if the ipod O/S might be infected or perhaps the battery... he did not get it.
I asked a pointed question whether this was proper behavior for 6.0.3, he completely vaded the answer TWICE! I told him 6.0.2 was behaving correctly. No response. We moved on to the issue that 6.0.3 _prevents_ you from doing any manual syncing if you have not established a pairing link between the system and iPod. Once again no answers. I felt I was specifically NOT being told there was either a problem or that Apple had changed the rules of engagement!
Finally Kudos to Apple, My shiny 60GB 5G developed the dreaded 'sad face of Mac' on Saturday after just less than 60 days of owning it. It was not dropped and a trip to the Apple store on Sunday saw me in and out with a replacement iPod in just a few mins. THAT IS SERVICE & SUPPORT!
