ITOUCH -purchased May 2010

Aug 2, 2010 11:30PM PDT

Since my itouch is not on 3G network I have loaded the app "Wi-Fi Finder." However, I have not been able to access any spots where I've gone.

Does any one know how to operate the wi-fi app?
Or know of another avenue I can access to utilize the itouch?

Please help-Thanks

About those spots.

Most places I go have encrypted the wifi so you have to enter in passwords and more. Maybe all the spots are not open to use by those that pass by?

itouch connections

I thought I could connect to say....hotels, stores, libraries etc. that may be in the area. That is what the app says its for. I know many people "lock" their sites but businesses do allow access. Malls....

Businesses and malls are the most locked up places I know of.

Try your own wifi at home. Or back to the Apple store and let them show you it working.

Listen, I've been to the Apple store and they recommended the app!
I very well know I can connect at home!

Please if you are not going to be positive or have no resolution let others respond.
Thanks

I misunderstood.

I thought your ipad was not connecting to wifi that were open to use. I see now you have an issue with an "App."

If there is an issue with an App, let's get the App's author to explain.

Is this that app?

http://www.jiwire.com/iphone

I read it and see that it would confuse most. It's not so much a wifi finder but might show you where a wifi point was in the past.

My advice is to remove this app and use the itouch's own wifi tools.

I tend to agree with Bob about using

the iTouch built in Wifi finder.

Under Settings, Wi-Fi, (Touch Wi-Fi) and you will see a list of all the wireless networks that the iTouch is receiving.
Touch the one with the strongest signal and without a padlock on it, and the iTouch will connect to it.

Hope that helps.
