Why it should matter...

... to non-Catholics is beyond me.

All boys of that time were enrolled in the Hitler Youth, whether they liked it or not.

After being drafted into the army, he later deserted.

The events of his past have been well known so the article is no big revelation.

And he is a very hard traditionelist also. I dont think its good for church with so extreme conservetiv leaders. he is also against birth controle. I think they have ideas from 100 years ago. Same with devorce. They are against devirce. Do you think it is ok with no devorce? It wold be good if not necesarry, but many relations go bad and they need to devorce. Pope says NO.

outside the US. Much of the rest of the world is scandalized by what goes on in the US. The US Episcopaleans (sp?) are also absorbing this lesson as the rest of the church moves closer to expelling them for heresy.

And have no need to know as that is personal, and to be revealed only by choice.

But I doubt you are Catholic due to your statement about divorce.

Catholics can divorce. But if they have been married in the Catholic Church, they are not to remarry unless one dies. Marriage in the Church is a Sacrament. There are circumstances , however, in which those marriages can be annulled.

I think you might agree that half of the marriages in the US ending in divorce isn't anything of which to be proud.

As to birth control, that is a man-made edict. Personally, I don't think that disobeying that edict is wrong.

Yes, there are some edicts that are medieval. I assume that changes will come with time, but not just to suit the times.
