It must be winter because...

by Willy / December 13, 2010 12:34 AM PST

It must be Winter:

1) the DOT piled snow/ice on my driveway
2) the Halloween pumkin is finally buried under snow
3) I ran out of salt
4) I have to get milk pr bread in a blinding blizzard
5) the cat actually stays inside, no whining
6) I used my last garden tomato
7) I burn anything in the fireplace now
Cool On the coldest and windest day, I run out of gas
9) my neighbor calls for help

Finally........

10) It's the best white Christmas ever

Enjoy the season -----Willy (I like the 4-seasons) Happy

Not a lot, just a dusting this morning. Virginia I hear just a couple hours south of me is getting it in inches right now.

I'm visiting to help my Dad get settled in his new senior apt.
He's 93, blind, barely mobile, mostly deaf. In spite of that he's always upbeat, until a recent bad fall in the bathroom at his previous place. My brother was telling me he was suddenly downhearted about things, so my wife and I thought it would be a good idea for me to stay with him for a week. I had the time and the money.
The visit has helped very much. Not because of my marvelousness Happy but because I'm the one family member who can stay for days at a time. I listen well, and I've been his 'guide dog' as he learns to get around the new place on his walker.
Nice way to pay him back for my first 18 years. Happy

system has hit hard here. Wind chill in the negative constantly, and inadequate street clearing. My Dad says the gov'ts are all too broke to buy salt, pay O/T to snowplows, etc.

Cold all over. Not been warm here

I ran two loads through my woodstove just yesterday to try and reach 70 indoors, to supplement my electric heat which wasn't quite pulling it alone. Tonight without wind chill is 17, don't know the wind chill.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
