Issuse Down loading windows 7 plz help.

Jan 10, 2012 1:51PM PST

i already have windows 7 installed and also i have the first set of updates before it has to restart. When it restarts i see the BOI's then it loads from the DVD/CD then moves on to windows powering up then it will try to load after that but it goes blank instead of going to user page.

Not clear.

When installing Windows 7 from the DVD it doesn't get updates immediately, but only when it's fully installed.
When it's fully installed the DVD isn't in the drive any more.
And what do you mean with "down loading Windows 7"?

I'd start all over with a clean install, deleting and rebuilding the partition you want to install it on.

Sorry that did sound weird. yes i fully installed windows 7. Did leave the dvd in when it restarted. So it goes to black screen when loading back up. I went to startup repair and said i had a boot sector that was corrupted. How do i repair it? Thanks for getting back to me.

As I said above, I'd start all over. Reinstall Windows. This should fix the boot sector also. Then remove the DVD when asked to do so.

Well i wasnt able to format the hard drive. It said windows was unable to format and i try different computers to reformat it. I got a error code: 0x80070057 when trying to reinstall windows 7. I also went to my command prompt and tried to repair using(/Fixboot, FixMbr,) it said it was successful, but i ended up getting the same error and same status in start up repair

First of all, it's not a drive that is formatted, but a partition. You partition a drive and you format a partition. Moreover, nowhere in this thread I mentioned formatting.

Then: if you try something with the same hard disk on several different computers, either you do something wrong or the drive is defective and you need to buy a new one.

Your story is unclear and confusing, however, so I can't tell which of the two applies. Why not start all over after erasing the drive with DBAN or deleting and rebuilding all partitions with GPARTED? Both are free downloads, so there's no reason not to try except lack of time or ignorance. In that case, find a repair shop and let them install Windows 7 for you.
