Issues with scroll bars in office suit

Feb 22, 2008 1:07AM PST

hi
i have a user here, using ms office 2003, and he has noticed that when scrolling through ms access or excel, that often the vertical scroll bar he is using will return to the top position. this is the same for excel. its a bit of an issue, as he would be clicking through databases with thousands of rows of data, and it keeps retuning to the top of the row.

i did notice that a program called ifinger kept popping up as this was happening. but i could not find info on the web linking this product with the issue he is having.

if any one has any suggestions, id appreaciate it.
Regards
Damien

I can replicate this. I scroll with the bar and then press about any key and since the cursor is still at the top the window properly pops to the top so I get to see what I did.

Thanks for your post proper. but for the issue we are having here, is that the user is just clicking on the scroll bars, he isnt clicking or pressing anywhere else other than clicking on the space below the scroll bar, to advance the data on.

anyway as a further check i installed the ifinger software on a test machine. opening a database and scrolling through the data produced the same issue.

then to confirm that it was the ifinger software, i opened the same database on a machine with out the ifinger software. scrolling through the database here worked fine.

it appears that it is due to ifinger automatically automatically getting focus on the active window, and getting the data from the active window.

Just for closure.

Is that software that comes from microsoft with the applications in question or some where else?

There must be a few hundred addons out there so I have to work with "as if it's stock" and what would cause it.

Hi bob,
you can get it from here http://www.ifinger.com/
Company quote.
"iFinger is a dictionary search engine which automatically attaches itself to the active window and gives you immediate access to any reference content that you buy and download to your hard drive."

one of our users downloaded recently. he thinks its handy for what he uses it for, but its does seem to be causing the issue with MS access etc.

Damien.
