Issues with iPhone speaker

I've had my iPhone 4 for roughly 3 weeks. Lately I've only been able to answer or talk on the phone using speaker phone. It was only a few calls at first but now it seems I can only use the speaker phone have a phone conversation. I've tried using in the case I have for it (Otterbox Defender) and without the case. I haven't tried to restore it to it's orginal setting via iTunes.

Is this a common problem or did I just get a bad phone?

May be there are some other problems, go to the respective store you bought your iphone, they will manage to solve this issue, no big deal for them.
