urir1,
The games or the console itself may be sending a weak signal when playing games. If the audio stream drops out in the game console, it has to re-initiate, which is probably the dropout of audio you're experiencing. In essence, the receiver is looking for an audio stream, and that issue likely resides in the game consoler itself.
You might try hooking up the game console to the TV via HDMI and sending the optical signal to the receiver. That may do the trick.

Hi
Im having a minor issue with my setup. My setup is as follows: I have a PS3 and a cable box hooked up to the AV-720 reciever using HDMI and HDMI to the Samsung TV. Watching cable is fine, but when i switch to the PS3 i have a wired problem. I can watch movies and blu ray with great 5.1 sound but when playing certain games i will get an annoying glitch in the sound, what i mean by that is, the sound will comeout fine in 5.1 but every few seconds (and its random each time, sometimes 3sec sometimes every 5 secs) the sound will stop for a second or two and come back on, almost as the receiver is looking for an input. If i set the PS3 to output in Dobly Digital DST and Linear PCM 5.1 i wont have that problem but then i only get the front speakers to work.
I also tried using an optical cable for sound and connect the ps3 to the tv, but still the same issue.
Any help would be really appreciated because im really frustrated with that.
Thanks
