eliz6beth, everyone's isp is conditional on where you live. Are you looking for dialup or broadband or dsl.Broadband is not available to everyone. I would check with a friend or someone in your area to see who they use.

Liz, Yep, For Dial-Up, It Depends On Local Numbers...

...for access. If you don't have local access numbers for the ISP, then it's too expensive. There are a number of inexpensive dial-up ISP's. I've used both Netzero and Juno which provide $9.95 monthly "unlimited" dial-up access. In my area, (southern California, USA) they've got plenty of access numbers.

On the other hand, there are a couple of new "half speed" DSL offerings for $14.95/month which sound impressive. Yahoo has joined with SBC and Verizon to offer a DSL service which is slower than standard DSL but still knocks the socks off regular dial-up.

A little hint on where you are located might get some better suggestions.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Shona - I have got my problem sorted out with Wanadoo (actually it just solved itself - don't ask). But I have made a note of your advice.

For those of you who are reading this thread, in the ''States'' there is

FindAnISP helps you research what ISPs are in your area, what features and prices they offer.

But you other countries, I don't have any links for you. Sorry.
