ISO: portable audio recording device recommendations

by lwvirden / August 16, 2006 2:05 AM PDT

I'm looking for an entry level (i.e. low cost) device that would be useful for recording music via a line-in jack.

This is for a garage band who is just starting out - they realize this isn't going to be studio quality, but would like to get something that records their sound better than a tape recorder.

The goal would be to create MP3s that they could then either listen to for critiquing the work, or even uploading to a band site for people to get a feel for the style of music they do.

Again, the primary play off here is cost vs quality of sound, leaning more towards the cost .

No tape recorder? are you looking for a digital mp3 player that can also record? What price range?

Trying to sort out the confusion

The primary thing being sought is something to digitally record. A digital audio player that also records would be fine. Needs to support a line-in feed, and recorded files need to sound decent.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
