General discussion

Isn't the town so Christian they demand sponsored prayer?

Chronicle editorial: Small town in Galveston County is sullied by another outburst of hate.

>> What's striking is the diversity. Not in the city of Santa Fe's population ? Santa Fe's 9,548 residents included only 24 African-Americans and 22 Asians, according to the 2000 Census ? but in the variety of its prejudice. For three decades Santa Fe has made national headlines for spasms of bigotry, racism and religious exclusion and persecution involving a truly impressive range of minorities. <<

The Santa Fe school board took their losing battle all the way to SCOTUS to allow football games to be started with student-led prayer ending "in Jesus' name we pray."
He must be so proud!

Not to worry; he can handle it.

There's a higher authority involved:
?And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us.? (1Jo 5:14)
Even Jesus had to keep this in mind:
?And going a little way forward, he fell upon his face, praying and saying: ?My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.? ... Again, for the second time, he went off and prayed, saying: ?My Father, if it is not possible for this to pass away except I drink it, let your will take place.? (Mt 26:39-42)

Isn't this comparing apples and oranges? Do you think that

the whole town are committed Christians. It looks like the lady has two neighbors who watch out for her. Why the linkage to Christianity? A thinly veiled attack that has nothing to do with race?

Are you praying for these brothers and sisters as they must be if they are Christian?

Wish the author of this hit piece ...

... would put their name to it so we know just who is airing their own bigotry and bias. Sheesh. Weave together a 1981 KKK rally of 150 participants (smaller than many weddings) with allowing school prayer with a bunch of teenagers spray-painting swastikas and burning a cross? I fail to see what the "stuff in the middle" has to do with the two demonstrations of racial hatred spread out over more than two decades. Pretty thinly veiled hatred in its own right trying to draw parallels Sad
