P. 184, Theodore Lubik, Ukraine. He had arrived earlier and now had a job distributing food.
"All the produce came from New York City. We took it to the bakery ... The people there would take a piece of cardboard, fold it to make a box and put in two or three sandwiches, an orange, some salami ...
"Everyone the same thing. Except for the Jewish people; they were kosher...
"everybody got a box. Then ... They would take off for the train to their destination."

[Author] "Theodore worked at Ellis Island until America entered WWI. Then he was fired as an enemy alien, a Ukrainian who was a cirizen of Austro-Hungary, even though he had left Europe largely to avoid serving in the hated imperial army."
