Is "www.win-patch.com" ok to download from?

Mar 16, 2004 4:44AM PST

I keep getting these windows popping up telling me to download from a site called www.win-patch.com. It looks kind of shady though. There are no microsoft logos at all on the page. Also, I get getting this window popping up telling me the system is shutting down in 1 minute. What is this all about. It's says something about an "RPC". I've had windows for about 1 day, so I have no idea what I'm doing when it come to this compared to Windows ME. Thanks for any help.

I supplied a link about the worm and its varients. Removal instructions and more were there.

Did you read it?

To help me convey this information in the future, what do I need to write to have you read the supplied link?

I keep installing the service packs, and then when I restart my computer and go to windows update they're back up there like I'd never downloaded them at all. This is really getting frustrating. Is there anything I can do?

did you buy this computer or just the software?
if shop installed it i would bring it back and let them repair it, if you just bought the software you might ask shop for help

I think I'm just going to reinstall the OS. Are there any tips for this so that it will run stable next time? I already installed winamp and microsoft office.
