Is Veronica Dating Ryan Block?

Feb 15, 2006 11:33PM PST

I was listening to the Engadget lovecast, and Ryan Block signed off by saying that he was missing Veronica, V. He had mentioned earlier in the podcast that his girlfriend loved the engadget podcast, and that it was a long-distance relationship. In one of my Flickr pictures, their back and forth comments seemed to signify that they knew eachother. Did you meet at a place like the Portable Media Expo? I just thought it would be really cool if people from my two favorite podcasts were dating. If I'm totally wrong, disregard this, and laugh at me for ten minutes.

Single, not

Cute geek girls are rare, they have their choice of guys to pick from, very unlikely a young lass such as Veronica is single

Totally busted...

OMG, you just put this together very well. Ryan just clinched it. Some other bits of circumstantial evidence:

1) Veronica was talking about staying in with one of her friends messing about on Google video on a Friday night. Sombody like Veronica alone on a Friday unless by choice? I think not.

2) They are both Mac fanboys/fangirls

3) Veronica's appearance on the Engadget podcast. V tried to be really cool, saying that she had mentioned it and "they" thought it would make a good voice mail question. However (in hindsight) no mention of where the conversation took place.

4) Ryan trying to be cool in the Engadget podcast. When you are first seeing somebody, somehow there is a temporary short circuit in the logic parts of your brain, such that you think that nobody knows about your relationship. Of course, this is completely incorrect, and those around you (once you come clean) invariably say "Um, yea, like we knew for the last 3 months, it was kind of funny watching you try and hide it." Point here is: The Venn diagram of the Engadget Podcast and BOL listenership would have so much overlap it would look like one circle. So, Ryan thinking "Nobody will know" is pretty typical.

Although not definitive, the evidence is piling up. We want a statment. *shoves large microphone at Veronica* OK, Miss Beaumont. You have been romantically linked with a rival podcast, and are being accused of being an Engadget mole at CNET. Do you have a public comment?......

oh goodness.

Ryan and I are good friends. I prefer to keep my personal life out of BOL and the forums, and I'd appreciate if you all would do the same. And neither of us is a mole of any kind Happy

Congratulations Veronica! There'll be the papparazzi following you around soon enough...

Yeah, I laugh every time I see posts like "Is Veronica single?" or "is she dating this or that guy?"

It would be sweet if V was gay.

Looking for a bit of privacy?
Feb 16, 2006 4:48AM PST

Think again ? even I am having privacy problems and I?m not popular.

I am running a bit of a give-away promotion on my site and one of the questions on the site is ?were do I live?? I was expecting people to answer with my town name (as that is on the site) however someone has entered my street address. More worrying, is that I 1) do not know the person and 2) they know my real street address, not my mailing address or the address on the WHOIS record!

It?s just scary.

Anyway I don?t really agree with this topic. As far as V?s personal life, I think we can safely say that she?s in love with all things Mac!

For the love of all things great and small...
Feb 16, 2006 5:08AM PST

This just in: There's more to life than scrutinizing the personal love life of a cnet podcast producer. Please people, find something a little more important to focus on in life and maybe you won't have time to waste it on topics like this.

Don't Freak Out!
Feb 16, 2006 5:28AM PST

I was not trying to pry or anything, I just loved the podcasts so much that i thought it would be cool if they were connected. I didn't mean to start this whole controvesy, please don't think too much about it. It was not that big of a deal in my opinion.

What is REWERB thinking???
Feb 16, 2006 5:32AM PST

I think that Rewerb deserves to get some sort of punishment from the BOL community. The forums are to talk about the podcast and technology not talk about personal lives what to you think???

What type of punishment????

Feb 16, 2006 8:12AM PST

well...

...ok!

Please Note:
The above comments regarding ?flogging? members of the CNET community was intended to be humours. The remarks were not indented to offend any persons.

Furthermore, Ross C Brown (that?s me) accepts and understands that ?flogging? would not be an appropriate use of a Buzz Out Loud t-shirt.

As of this, please be advised that Ross C Brown (me again) does not endorse the flogging of persons with items including but not limited to a Buzz Out Loud T-shirt.

I hereby apologise in full to those persons who may have taken offence at my comments.
