Is Upgrade to Norten IS 2006 from 2005 Worth $50.00

Dec 21, 2005 9:54AM PST

Norten is bugging me to upgrade my Internet Security 2005 which is paid up through September of 2006; they want to sell me the upgrade to Norten Internet Security 2006 from 2005 for $49.95. Should I really do this? Is it worth it? If I keep my NIS 2005 always updated with current definitions shouldn't it protect me just as well without my having to spend another $49.95 for what seems like never ending annual upgrades?

Personally? No.

I have had not much success with Norton of late.
Other programs catch stuff, Norton doesn't.
The 2006 I just tried has more pop-ups and full window stuff, will dump all your browser windows if it doesn't like something (caselmedia for one) so I tried several, settled on AVG, pus it's free.

I agree.

Norton was good, when there was nothing else. I have found AVG to be better, faster, cleaner, and just darn wonderful. Best of all, IT IS FREE!

this is the link, now go get! but first uninstall the icky stuff, then install AVG your system will love you for it and so will your wallet..Merry Christmas!

interchangably (sounds better for your money). True, are probably some variations. Suprising how many problems show up here with " I have Norton " in them. Must be way too popular. Personally, I'd never return to Norton. Happy

2006 version will have....

some "features" that the 2005 does not AND might have a slightly faster scan engine BUT virus detection and removal capabilities will remain the same.

If you like Norton continue using what you have and UPGRADE when your current subscription runs out next year.

Norton is NOT the premier AV product it once was--there are many arguably better ones and several are free.
