Is Toshiba Colorstream different or is it just 480p?

Feb 21, 2006 4:33AM PST

Hi all.
I have a Toshiba dvd player that has this Toshiba Colorstream component output. From reading online it sounds just like it is standard progressive scan output. Is this colorstream add anything or did Toshiba just feel the need to rename a technology everyone is using?

Sounds like a good basic d.v.d. player , but if you have a hi-def t,v, and the picture looks crummy on it you may want to upgrade to a better unit that uses d.v.i. or h.d.m.i. output and will upconvert the signal I just bought a new Toshiba 72HM195 hi-def t,v, I love it but it also calles its t.i. dlp chip talen which means nothing good luck stewart

A rose by any other name would still have thorns!!

The component interface that has standards that all must meet, to be compatible.
There is firewire or IEEE1394, Sony calls this iLink, so Toshiba calls ot colorstream. John
