Is this the right tool for the job?

Aug 31, 2008 1:06PM PDT

I'm new at networking and I want to start making my own network wires/cables for my office. I ordered this crimping tool from www.lducompany.com (crimper should be here in a few days) and I wanted to learn if there are any other kinds of network cat5 wire crimping tools out there that would work better? http://www.liangdianup.com/inventory/459901.htm is the location for the crimp plires on thier website, those are the ones that I bought. Funny that it says Germany on the handle of the plires but I would gues they are made in China since the company I bought them from is in China. If you know of a name of a certin cat 5 wire crimper that would be better for me to use then please post it here. Thank you Happy

On its way, that looks like the one you're going to use. I work for VZ, I could go to ten different trucks and pull out five different brands or even styles from the same manufacturer. Some may be left handed others right handed, some may do only rj45s while others do rj11s as well. Some do only round cable while others do round and square. Some have leverage others direct pressure. There's guys that have plastic ones they like better because of wieght in their bags. Some are pretty damn heavy for only crimping plastic ends onto 24/26 guage wire.
Being that you're only using this for home use and it won't be a constant(everyday)tool in your hand, it should be fine. It's when it makes you money,or some one else, when it really matters.
