Question

Is this safe?

Does anyone know if this is a safe download? Or does anyone know of a safe site to download something to either change or hide your IP address?

Answer
That looks safe but what you get from a tor is usually not.

And to hide your IP the next question is how would information find its way to your machine?

There are folk picking the pockets of folk looking to hide the IP and I will not assist in such ripoffs.

I thought the download was free. If it is, who would be ripped off?

If someone does change his/her IP address, how DOES the email reply get back to them? I tried to trace someones IP address and it only shows up as Yahoo in Sunnyvale, Ca., and I know for a fact that this person is in the Chicago area. All the IP addresses in the header are Yahoo except one that shows way down the header and traces to a residential area that isn't near where I'm sure the email originated from. If he is that paranoid that I might trace his IP address (I know his home and work address because he gave them to me) I'm thinking that there is something mentally wrong with him and that for safety's sake, I need to stay away from him.

On the other hand, I tried to trace my own IP address and it shows that I'm in a different suburb of Chicago than I am.

And if you do your research

You find there is no hiding your IP. Are you sure you need to repeat that discussion?

I think you are far too trusting of this idea and that software. How are you sure it is not a honeypot tracking system?
