Is this normal?

Dec 5, 2005 2:09AM PST

I've been using a Rio Carbon for over a year now. I love it, but I noticed something a few months ago, and I want to know if it is a problem with all mp3 players or just the Carbon.

When listening to some songs that start up right away, I noticed that part of the first note was cut off. When I checked the time remaining at the beginning, I saw that it started at, say, 4:00 and jumped to 3:58. So it's cutting off the first second of the song. I discovered that this is actually happening with all of my music, which is in both MP3 and WMA formats.

So does this have something to do with the gaps inserted between songs, or is it just a problem with the Carbon? I can live with it, but it's kind of annoying.
