Where was the racism?
by MarkFlax Forum moderator / November 25, 2011 3:10 AM PST

It looked like an organised shop-lifting robbery to me. I didn't see or hear anything racist in the video or the report.

I've tried to block the comments from news sites
by Josh K / November 27, 2011 10:41 PM PST

It's invariably just a bunch of morons shouting insults at each other and I fail to see what any of it has to do with news, which is what I'm there to get. I've succeeded in blocking most of it at CNN, and I've blocked the Twitter feed on weather.com (do I really need to know that some chick in Brooklyn is sad because it's raining?).

Hard to tell if the guy who commented that the video was racist was serious or just trying to stir something up.

I don't really see any
by Steven Haninger / November 27, 2011 10:48 PM PST

but that the majority of participants seem to be of one race might be enough for some to wonder. I do believe that a reporter, in looking to create more out of a scene than really exits, would try to suggest such a thing.

The reporter didn't suggest anything like that

It was just some yahoos commenting at the bottom of the web page.

As far as the story itself goes, remember that two of the people interviewed who were calling for new laws to make this kind of thing a felony were also black.

It's like...
by J. Vega / November 28, 2011 1:07 AM PST

It's like someone suggesting kids could get jobs at their schools and then someone suggesting that it was an attempt to make the U.S. like 19th century England in the "Oliver Twist" days.

No, it isn't

And I'm not going to further the attempt to change the subject by discussing that here.
