Vxdif.dll Looks To Be an Alps Pointing Device File..
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / October 12, 2008 5:35 AM PDT

It appears like Spybot is notifying you of a corrupted file? Did you run a scan with Spybot?

Do you have the Alps pointing device program? If so, have you tried uninstalling it? Do you need it? Have you tried running Chkdsk like the popup asks?

Hope this helps.

& that's the pop-up I saw.

As for everything else...I'm a novice & have no idea how. I don't *think* I have an "Alps" prgrm. Not sure. Don't know how to run Chkdsk.

How to Run Chkdsk/Error Checking..
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / October 12, 2008 10:42 AM PDT

Follow the instructions at the link below:

How To Run 'Error Checking/Chkdsk' On Win2000/XP

As to whether you have an Alps pointing program, which is a program that works with your mouse, simply open the Control Panel, then the "Add/remove Programs" section, then search for an "Alps" listing.

Hope this helps.

Had I known running Chkdsk would've taken THAT long! lol! Took a good 7+ hours.

In the end it said disk was clean or something to that effect.

& I do have Alps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
