I am presently shopping around for a digital camera and camcorder and find myself in a conundrum- I am hesistant to buy different brand components, ie. I either want both Sony or both Canon. I am willing to spend about 900 total, and obviously want the most for the money.
I have checked out cnet ratings and consumer reports (which don't seem to overlap to much) and have narrowed down to Sony DCR HC30/Sony DCS T1 or PC100 or Canon PowerShot S500/Canon ZR line.
Is the Sony too problematic? Does one have easier editing/transferring capabilities over another? Is the higher price for the Sonys worth it? Do the Memory sticks work in all of their products interchangably and easily? Are these even the right ones to be looking at? I like the smaller size of the Sony, but don't want to sacrifice quality too much. This is meant to be for family photos/web sharing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
