Is there replacement for WordPad

Aug 18, 2007 2:48PM PDT

I have Windows XP Pro, SP.

A while back I asked if there was spellchecker addon for WordPad. I found out there wasn't. I was recommended a wordprocessor/editor. I tried it but I didn't keep using it. Now I want to use it but I don't have the program and can't remember its name. Can somebody please tell me what its name is or the name of another similar program?

Thanks,

royeo

There's a few

AbiWord is probably one of the best in terms of lightweight word processors. There's also OpenOffice if you want a full on office suite.

Google also has a half-decent online word processor and spreadsheet program. Nothing overly fancy, but it should do the job as a WordPad replacement well enough, and there's nothing to install. Can't say for sure if it has a spellcheck, but since Gmail does, I would think their online word processor would.

If none of those are to your liking, then just check some download sites for rich text editors.

Thanks. It seems like AbiWord is good.
