Question

Is there any way I can use a Sanyo MVP (modified MM9000)?

Mar 5, 2014 3:21AM PST

I have a Sanyo MVP (modified Sanyo MM9000) from around 2006 when ESPN had their own phone plans (with a link to an ESPN service), using the Sprint network.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use these phones any more? With any carrier?

The DEC# never shows as being available when I have called Sprint. I have been told it shows as assigned. Yet the ESPN mobile service that used these phones is no longer in existence.

If I were to pay the fee to get it "unlocked", would I be able to use it any carrier? It's just a very cool flip-phone, and I'd like the option to use it.... even as a back-up.

Thanks.

Answer
OK, it's some old Sprint CDMA phone.

I can't guess what country you are in but in my town there are these "Cricket" booths that claim they can flash phones to their network. I won't duplicate prior discussions about how CDMA differs about well, in so many ways.

Nope

Dump it, since it can no longer be used w/ Sprint and nobody's going to flash it for you.

Thanks for the advice. I won't dump it though (sentimental attachment!)
