Is there a software which can share the video over wifi?

Nov 25, 2014 8:40PM PST

Hi genius, I want to share my videos on my laptop with my friends over wifi, and I hope we can watch the video independently that means we can free to decide the playing speed and progress. Is there such software? A Free One must be more better! I am looking forward to your answers. Thank you in advance

In principle, yes. It's not free, since it's built into Windows (and Windows isn't free). But if you have Windows already, it doesn't cost extra.

Put your video's in a shared folder, and let your friends join your homegroup or use the more traditional file sharing. Then they can use their own preferred program to open their own preferred video on your hard disk.

routers can do it too

you can also do it if your router has a usb port. For example, if you have a netgear router, you have readyshare and it will assign an ip address to the harddrive that is plugged into that usb port. This way anyone who knows the ip address and password you assign to it can access it online.

There is also an online service called playon that will help you stream from your pc to other devices and computers.

Spam?

Two days later, somebody else (called ab2356526, I think it's his brother) wrote a new post another forum, saying that he had found such software. Alas, it was one of those virtual router programs that's often spammed, so I had to delete it.

Surely spam.

The exact same question is posted the last few days on many a forum. So I'm locking this.
