General discussion

Is there a red eye removal palette?

Oct 3, 2010 12:12PM PDT

I have 5-6 photo editing programs. It doesn't seem that any of them have the capability of allowing the user to remove red eye manually. They seem only to offer those crazy, ineffective 'one click' fixes that either don't work or have bizarre outcomes. A friend suggested just using the paint brush tool & that palette, but I'm not so good at that. My old program, Jasc, don't remember the version, had a wonderful color palette to use just for the eyes. I have Windows 7. Here are my programs, some of them quite complicated: Jasc PSP8; Corel PSPx3; FastStone Image Viewer; Photo Pos Pro; GIMP. I'd be most appreciative of some help here, as I'm facing a large task. Thanks, J.J.

Various fixes

In Piccasa select a picture (click on it), go to menu at the top and click on Picture, then View and Edit. You will get a tool for basic fixes including Redeye.

If you select Batch Edit under Picture you will get a menu with various fixes, including Auto Red Eye Correction, you can apply to all the pictures at one time.

Red eye removal - thanks and more detailed question
Oct 16, 2010 12:28PM PDT

Thank you for the responses regarding red eye removal. What I am actually looking for is something more than the one-click removal. I have a lot of animals and do a lot of animal rescue. The one-click removal just does not cut the mustard. In an old version of Jasc there was an actual color palette and it would do amazing things. Each of my animals has a different color and shade of eye, just like people do. It would allow me to color their eyes in with just the perfect color, in addition, I could even add a little glint.

That's what I am looking for. Is there anything more advanced than the one-click removal?

Thank you, J.J.

Not that I know of. You might try doing a search for something like "redeye editor" and see what comes up.
