Is there a folder in XP that holds all software product keys

Feb 3, 2009 12:27AM PST

I thought that Windows XP (I think it is XP Pro, SP3) had one folder that stored all of your software product key/registration/license numbers? If so, which folder is it and where is it located? Thanks for any help!

Each software maker can hide them or may discard them after activation of their software.

Windows XP folder with Product Registration Numbers stored

Do you mean to look for those titles as directories or folders? I could not find any with those names.

Several years ago, I remember printing out the information in a folder on my old computer that had all of my software product registration numbers in one place - when I had to reinstall everything on a new computer, I had the numbers handy. I have a friend who needs to reinstall some legal programs and does not have the original CDs - he needs the Product ID number to get his programs reinstalled. I am pretty sure that I had XP back then.

Thanks again, Bob, for your help.
