That model has so many other tricks that makes me glad it's one I bought years ago.
I have an unusual situation. I live in Tokyo, Japan and the only cable TV I have access to is Armed Forces Network along with a smattering of Japanese and International cable stations (Discovery Int'l, AP, BBC news, etc.) provided by a local Japanese provider. It's fairly ad hoc. I'm sure there is no cable guide provided by the carrier. I'm looking for a DVR where I can just program to record channel XX at X:XX hrs on XX/XX/2011. Sort of like the old VCR's could do. It appears that the Channel Master will do that, but not sure after reading the review.
Just as an aside - I watch most of my TV through Hulu Plus, but that still doesn't get me CBS or AMC and many other networks. AFN is starting Mad Men season 4 this Saturday but its at a crazy time, so we need to learn how to record it. Thanks
