IS THER SUCH A THING AS A BREAK IN PERIOD?

Mar 17, 2006 5:36AM PST

Here I go again folks with silly questions NOT TRUE you gave me a bad rap when I asked about a stuck pixel problem I thought it was a good topic. but you still picked on me ha ha. Here goes another one. When I first bought my TOSHIBA 72Hm195 I noticed a stuck pixel and had a problem with to much green Now that the set is about 4 weeks old and the stuck pixel is gone and the color balance has also gone away now the black level is perfect no green WOULD YOU CALL THIS A BREAK IN PERIOD LIKE ON A CAR HA HA? I know this sounds stupid but I have heard that speakers have to also be broken in In closing I love my new Toshiba and I have asked you folks to please a post if you see one on display . But I guess I am the only person on this earth that owns one I have yet to see this set anywhere so I guess Toshiba only build one t.v. and I own it na na na na Also souroundsound you were going to give me feedback on this t.v. You also told me how great the J.V.C i.l.a. set is. problem is I saw one on display and it had a jaged edge to it WHY was the set difective or what I really wanted to buy the J.V.C but that jaged effect turned me off

I also found out I own the only 72HM195 on the planet. I knew something was funny because the dealer told me there was only one of these sets on the west coast so I guess Toshiba only made one set stewart

That's Scary

I wouldn't be all laughs if that was the case. I just threw a Sony tv that was over 20 yrs old and had absolutely nothing wrong with it with the exception that the set was just old. Tells you something eh? BTW, I've never heard of a tv that needed to have a break in period.

SILLY.

Usually That Period After You Buy Your Ticket And Until You
Mar 21, 2006 10:47PM PST

....Find a nice comfortable seat about midway up from your giant 40' movie screen.

That's why your projectionist (you will need one) runs trailers before beginning the real movie....it's to give the screeen and the projector time ti warm up and (as you say) "break in."

And, like I've said elsewhere, you'll hardly notice one or two dead pixels from the 40'-50' away you'll likely be sitting.

Just kick back with your popcorn and enjoy the show.

But be sure to turen off your cell phone, Stewart!

No Stupid Questions
Mar 24, 2006 9:41PM PST

-Check this out (my opinion)
-No question is stupid if one is seeking knowledge
-A person becomes acclimated to a new TV or monitor and learns to like it although the first impression might be that the black is too gray or that they skin tones are too red or too orange
- I discover that when visiting my dad. His condo has announced electricity shutdowns at times for repairs and renovations in other units and his TV assumes factory preset levels of color intensity and tint.
When I visit I dont even mention that the news reporters look like orange aliens. I just find the remote and turn down the color and slide the tint back to a neutral position together with the contrast and brightness to bring back the deeper and more defined image his TV can produce if the controls are tweaked.
_ I would say all devices (and people) have a ''break in'' period; some need a few hours, some need 1,000 miles, some need several experiences
-Jagged is spelled w/ 2 gs

Anyway after diner I I adjusted the focus, and set the controls etc which made the picture 1000% better Anyway my couson came in and I aked him how he liked the picture he said it looks the same to me, So I'am thinking that mabey my set was fine but my eyes had to break in anyway have a nice weekend to you stewart

Break-in on my old Toshiba
Mar 28, 2006 6:53AM PST

On my old Toshiba 50" RPTV there were instructions that said to let the TV run and warm-up for at least 30 minutes before doing any convergence adjustments. There was never anything about a "break-in" period. Never seen that except on a car (unless you drive a Cadillac which don't need a break-in period...Ha ha). C'mon Stew, smile.
