Is the Vision M Underrated?

by Tallcoolone / January 30, 2006 9:18 AM PST

I previously posted this in the Digital Music Forum instead of the MP3 Players forum, so here it goes again.

CNet recently reviewed the Zen Vision M and gave it an 8.0/10--certainly nothing to scoff at, but it's lower than the iPod 5g's score of 8.3. I find this strange, since it seems better than the iPod in every aspect except size (and CNet even says they prefer the extra thickness).

What does everybody else think?

I think it was unfair that they paired the Zen Vision:m with the ipod 5g 60gig ($400). Hey, lets just face the facts here, C|net has always and will continue to kiss Apples a*s (a direct result of their bias reviews) and no player will ever out score an ipod no matter how good it is. I thought it was funny how they wouldn't even give the vision:m an editors choice award and knocked the vision:m for scratches but not the 5g ipod. The largest insult was "the vision:m isn't as elegant as the ipod", thats a con? If you want a real reviews I suggest you visit dapreview.net and other "thrid party sites" Don't waste your time here.

I;m a big iPod fan because they are beautiful and easy to use. However from a specs point of view the Vision M is in fact better. I would think that it would have gotten a better score from Cnet. Isn't this a technology site. The Creative player does have the better technology. Maybe though they scored it lower because the 8 hours wma playback when the iPod has a solid battery life. Also the software involved my also lower the score.

I agree. About the 8 hours WMA though, you'd think having only 2 for video would compensate for that. And they didn't really complain about the software anywhere in the review. But yeah. I guess I should be happy it got a decent score.

CNet, less bias please! DAPreview is a much better site for reviews and news about mp3 players.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
