Is the Linux Desktop the Future of Enterprise?

Aug 18, 2012 5:41AM PDT

In this dawning age of Windows 8, and iOS, is the Linux Desktop perhaps the preferred choice for Enterprise? The learning curve for new Windows 8 users may leave Windows 7 as the preferred choice for Enterprise in the short term, and as the OS continues to progress along the touch screen and consumer-centric path (and as iOS gradually comes to subsume OSX) the Linux desktop may prove to be the most business friendly choice in terms of productivity, security, and day-to-day IT supportability. How will the Enterprise and Consumer Desktops diverge in the years ahead, and what will your work device and home device look like?
