Is the LG OLED TV worth buying?

Dec 16, 2016 9:22PM PST

I'm going to buy either the Samsung KS9000 or the LG OLED G6P.

What is the better buy?

I heard that the LG OLED has better blacks and contrast and the Samsung is brighter, has crisper colors and sharper picture quality.

I saw the LG OLED at Best Buy and it's more expensive than the Samsung and also the LG picture seems darker.

I'm not sure. Is it worth spending more money on the LG OLED?

What is the best TV that I could buy, regardless of the price? Thanks.

Interesting question and one I faced recently.
Looking on the John Lewis website I was concerned about the number of people who had been returning OLED televisions for various reasons.
I opted to go for a 50" LG UHDR 4k which was a lot cheaper and I am glad I did, excellent picture but the sound is not great so added a LG soundbar which has resolved that problem

I have had my OLED for three months so early days as yet. But it is a marked step up from my previous Panasonic plasma. I did look at the Samsung, also at John Lewis, but went for the LG and have absolutely no regrets: the picture is superb and the upscaling the best I have, personally, seen.

But of course there is a substantial price differential.

But I would, based on the first three months, unhesitatingly recommend it.
