Question

Is OSPD_US_665.exe a dangerous file?

Jan 19, 2015 2:36AM PST

Kaspersky popped up a message saying that OSPD_US_665.exe is a dangerous file that has been downloaded in the last 2 weeks.

The only thing downloaded on the laptop is a program called Blackboard Collaborate that is used to teach online classes.

Has anyone come across this file before?

It is listed as Malware, I'd avoid it.

Just asking...

I'm not disputing you but Google didn't find anything for OSPD_US_665.exe or OSPD_US_665

Are you basing your post on the fact that the OP says Kaspersky has listed it, or on some other list?

Hmm, could be

OSPD_US could be an American version I suppose.

If the OP were to check his C:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\random.tmp\ folder for ospd.exe or OSPD_US_665.exe then that would be significant.

Perhaps Kaspersky has the location of it?

Look at it under bleeping computer, listed as Malware, there appears to be many variants of this..it sounds much like promotional adware for the most part, generally undesirable to most.
