Is OE6 compatible wz VISTA os

Sep 26, 2007 4:13AM PDT

I am planning to get a laptop loaded wz Vista Premium OS.
I heard that VISTA OS is not compatible wz OE6??
With which I use to open & Send my "Hotmail.com" and "POP3" e-mail.
I dont want to use the Vista Windows e-mail.
Or else what about "MS office Oulook 2000"??
Please let me know??

True.

They replaced/renamed OE6 but if you read this forum you find you can get your email moved over (so no need for me to comment further on that.)

As to the email servers, some don't like that Hotmail can fail unless you move to the new system. Pop3 will be fine. OL2000 runs.

On the Hotmail front...

You have to download/install Windows Live Mail (beta) for it to work as Windows Mail doesn't support it like Outlook Express did.

Your replies for OE6, received and read loud and clearly.

i.e.

OE6 can no more be used with VISTA OS,
in order to synchronize inbound and outbound
e-mail correspondance simultaneously for
Hotmail and POP3 e-mail transactions.

Will have to download and install
"Windows live Mail (Beta)" for Hotmail
and "MS Office Outlook 2000" or any other
subsequent version for POP3 inbound and outbound
e-mail correspondance separately.

On the front of Hotmail, e-mail messages
can be sent, received and editted, only when on-line,
with "Windows Live Mail (Beta).......
while POP3 can be editted even while offline,
with "Outlook".

Please advise if not OK.(ADNOK)

That's OK, but...

You don't actually need Outlook if you have Windows Live Mail as the latter supports POP3 e-mail accounts as well. Likewise the other way around...if you have Outlook you don't need Windows Live Mail. WLM is just Microsoft's free alternative to Outlook, as Outlook Express was for XP users, so you only need one of the two. Regardless, though, Hotmail HTTP mail would require you to be online, unlike POP3.

One last question...
In his last reply Bob states "OL2000 runs".
Does he mean it is compattible??
As I heard that only "Outlook 2003 and higher work on Vista".
Please clarify, as I have "MS Office 2000 Pro"Greek version.
And I want to keep it for the Greek Spelling option.
Thanks

I mean "it runs."

I can't however test all it's features such as connection to an Exchange server, all the macros and buttons. So it's like testing an used car. I started it and took it for a spin around the block. Who knows if the spare tire holds air.
