Is now a good time to buy a Mac mini, I just ordered one!?

I just put in an order for a mac mini on and I have a few days to cancel.

I was just curios if any updates for it will be coming soon.
If its nothing big I don't really care, but if it is..... :*(

Also, is a price cut expected?

Please help me out!!!!!

Tough One

An upgrade for the Mac Mini should be close. I say should be because the Mac Mini has been neglected for quite some time now, and it is hard to say when is a good time to buy one. A price cut may or may not happen, but the internal components are outdated and are due for a serious upgrade. They are still using pre-Santa Rosa chips, I believe, which is about two generations behind.

I like Amazon, and they always have good deals, so if you really want a Mini, might as well keep it. However, you can expect it to be even more outdated eventually, should Apple keep it in production. Your call. The Mini is a good little machine, but it is somewhat overpriced and the needed upgrades render the current model somewhat obsolete, in terms of specifications. Still, it should work well for you.

If you already ordered it, I would go ahead and let it ship. Waiting for the next model will not help you too much; no one really knows when it will be upgraded. It's possible that it could be updated in September along with many of its counterparts, but there is no way of knowing. Just speculation. That's my take on the situation. I leave the rest to you. Good luck.

Your posts never disappoint, you give information and your opinion but never make the exact decision for anyone, leaving them to make their own right choice.

Thanks, and I look forward for more of your advice.

Also, I think I'm keeping the Mini, I don't want to wait to see an upgrade, or even worse no upgrade!!!

Thanks for the compliment. That helps make my time more worthwhile. Grin I try to explain my reasoning. One can't decide on something for another person, but you can at least give them some helpful info to work with.

The Mini is a good Mac in its own right. It makes a great media center too. You shouldn't be disappointed. If you don't plan to use it as a media center, as I would, you would want a decent monitor to use rather than a TV. You probably plan on using it as a computer anyway. I mention this because I heard today that the Apple Cinema Displays might be updated next month. If you were by chance looking at those, I advise waiting. They would be worth waiting for, if the rumors are true. If those aren't for you, Samsung and Dell, maybe even HP, offer great displays, some more expensive than others. Apple's displays aren't cheap either though. They should be, given that they have been around for 4 years. Just saying. Wink Good luck.
