This is true. DO NOT BUY FROM MARKETPLACE SELLERS ON NEWEGG!
Here is my story:
I had been a loyal customer of Newegg’s for many, many years. I enjoyed their selection, reviews, competitive pricing, and very quick shipments. But, something has changed at Newegg. I will never purchase from them again, and I tell everyone else I know to do the same.
I ordered a new wireless router with free two-day shipping, which was satisfied by the "Marketplace seller" VMInovations. When I looked at the Lasership tracking information two days later I was surprised to see that it said that the item was delivered the previous day, and less than 24-hours after I had ordered it. Except I never received it.
The shipping address was a commercial building with a specific suite number. The tracking information said "Left at Front Door". It certainly was not left at the front door of my suite, and it was no longer at the "front door" of the main building 24-hours later. Lasership either a) inappropriately dropped the package at the front door of the building (not the suite) and it was stolen by somebody walking by, or b) Lasership never delivered it and simply marked it as delivered.
Newegg seemed helpful at the time in trying to rectify the situation with VMInnovations. Although, VMInnovations IGNORED the first emailed attempt to come to a resolution. When I called Newegg back "48-hours" later, they were finally able to make contact with VMInnovations who said that they would “investigate” with LaserShip. VMInnovations followed up with me later that same day that Lasership "confirmed" that the product was properly delivered and instructed me that I should simply file a claim with my major credit card, which I presumably purchased the item with. Oh, and they offered to sell me another unit at a $10 off discount. No thank you. So, I filed a claim with my major credit card.
Then, mysteriously, the package arrived at my “front door” after being "missing" for eight ( days, and very interestingly the very next day after I filed a dispute claim with my credit card company. So, the package was delivered seven (7) days after it was supposed to be delivered, and in the meantime I had made another purchase, with another vendor. So, I figured I would “simply” return the item to Newegg since I no longer needed it. I contacted Newegg to help me with this process, and again, the Marketplace seller provided no feedback.
Then, I received an email from Newegg stating, “We apologize for the inconvenience, but your account has been suspended.” I reached out to Newegg for clarification. And, I was informed that any account that disputes a charge (as I was instructed to do by the Marketplace vendor) suspends the account. So, I still have the product in hand, which I wish to return, and now I do not have an active account with Newegg.
I call Newegg again, and they promise me a resolution with the Marketplace seller. Later, I receive an email from the Marketplace vendor (via Newegg) stating that I will be receiving a FedEx prepaid shipping label via email. The FedEx shipping label never comes.
I called Newegg again. This time, I was provided with RMA # documentation (via email) and a promise (in email/writing) that Newegg would refund me up to $15 to return the item to the Marketplace vendor. I was skeptical of the promise of a refund, but I sent the item back and paid for the shipping. At this point, I just wanted to move on from this adventure. The item was return and the Marketplace vendor (VMInnovations) acknowledged the return via email. Meanwhile, I received an email from Newegg that I have been “credited back” $15 for the shipping, although they never showed up in my credit card activity. Multiple emails back to Newegg regarding this have been ignored.
So, here I am, out $15 for returning the item that unreputable Lasership attempted to steal, but eventually delivered after filing a dispute with the my credit card company, which the VMInnovations instructed me to do. Newegg has still suspended by account, and will not respond to my emails concerning their promise to refund me $15 for returning the item. And, I am dealing with the credit card company to avoid the initial charge. Thank you Newegg!
I ordered a refurbished NVIDIA Geforce video card for $80 marked down from $200 with a 30 day money back guarantee. The card took 50 days to show up and works fine until I try to run any games, which makes it completely useless. I'm no longer able to return since I spent the first 30 days waiting for it to show up in the first place. So now I'm out $80 for a piece of junk that sits in a box at the bottom of a closet. I urge anyone to not use NEWEGG and just stick with your local store or Ebay.
Bought a new graphics card. It was faulty and caused damage to my system. Just did and RMA and because I didn't include the entire box it came in, they sent it back to me, as broken as it was. Theft... plain and simple. Out $500. Just doing business with them. Do not under any circumstances buy anything from Newegg.
I purchased all the components to build my computer from them. They are fantastic. Fast shipping and good deals for sales. Their customer service is the best from my experience. They even paid return shipping on the stuff I had to return. I would have no reservations about purchasing anything from them.
Yes - legit and trustworthy. I have purchased a few computer products on their website. However, the last time they screwed up my credit card information - they bundled up some software with the laptop I bought. The transaction was accepted by my bank for one item but not for the second. It kept getting denied even after I contacted Newegg in a chat. Someone had entered the wrong credit card information for the software item, so the entire order was blocked. It took me 3 days to resolve this. When I asked the chat person, Lizzie Z., to expedite the order since the delay was their fault, she said she could not do this. I can only imagine what might happen if something more critical occurred, like non-delivery or a biusted computer arrived in the mail.
they have good product but occasionly they will try to scam you for example something thats on sale(but its actually not) or if u buy a graphic card it will come with a free game(do not take this offer) they will give u the game but they will "mistakenly" charge for it everytime and blame it on their system
I used to do a lot of shopping at Newegg, but no more. I ordered smaller item (about $150) and within a few hours I received confirmation that is was shipped via FEDEX. Checking the FEDEX site, I saw a label was created but no product was sent. A week later I wrote 3 x and received no response from their vendor. Called Newegg and they said that the item was lost in transit and they will be trying again. Refused this and for a few days argued back and forth till I threatened to have the credit card company reverse the charge. They then credited my account. Why go thru 2 weeks of frustration when both Walmart and Amazon ship within a few hours of the order and the item arrives!
So much for Newegg. A thing of the past
Just to give a timeline of events that occurred with Newegg. I ordered a refurbished MacBook pro w i5 processor to replace an old MacBook with Intel 2core duo. This was ordered online on the 11th. On the 13th I received an email and 2 calls about incomplete information and a problem with the credit card. I responded to all of them and got confirmation of order after. Strange they did not have a problem charging my account on the 11th when it was actually ordered. On the 15th I received my box via FedEx and was excited to get my new used computer. However, the excitement turned to frustration when I opened the box and found that Newegg sent me the same older model MacBook (was not even a MacBook Pro) that I wanted to replace. After quite a while on the phone, I had to send pictures of the computer and box to them as proof. Then they said they would send me a mailing label to send it back. I did send it back on the 16th and on the 18th I got an email asking when I was going to send it. They provided me with the shipping label and should have been able to track that. I kept checking the tracking on the package and they received it on the 22nd. Odd that they got it here in 2 days, but it took almost a week for them to get it back. I have called every two days to get an update on the status of the return. It is the 28th now and I feel they have held my 450 dollars “hostage” long enough. I would not recommend going to Newegg for anything! I already re ordered my MacBook Pro replacement from Amazon and I am quite happy with it. Just like all the responses here. Customer service representatives are very friendly. But actions speak louder than any words. Extremely bad customer experience. This company would have to change a lot of business practices to get me to ever buy from them again. I wonder how long it will actually take for them to credit my card for the amount?
An update – talked to Newegg again yesterday and they requested another 48 hrs. What a JOKE! This was the 6th call to them. We called the bank and put the amount in dispute on the credit card. Newegg is a scammer organization that sells and sends inferior merchandise and I will never order from them again… PERIOD!
My advice is to stay away from this company. I recently ordered a hard drive from them that I had to send back. I tried to call the customer service department for an authorization and elected a call back or I would have been on hold for a very long time. No problem, I went online and submitted the information for a replacement return authorization. No problem with that, and they were providing a return shipping label. After about an hour later I did get a call back from them, and a girl answered. I told her that I had gone ahead and submitted my return request online and if she could check to make sure it went through OK since I haven’t received my shipping label yet. She put me hold for awhile, not sure why, and later came back and said everything OK, and I should be getting my return shipping label. This was the only conversation, and it was just to verify a return request.
Now this is where it gets strange. Later in the day I check my bank account and notice a charge pending from Newegg. About twice the amount I originally paid for the hard drive. I figured it must be some internal process due to the return. Well, the next day I actually got charged for this. So, I left an online callback notice for first thing in the morning.
I get a call from Newegg and this guy sounds like he was stoned or something. Maybe he just had a bad cold with a lot of sniffles. Anyway, he was helpful and after some checking it appears that an order for two hard drives was made against my credit card. But, he couldn’t tell me where they shipped them to, Newegg policy. So he says well, it happens all the time. How coincidental is this; Rright after I have communication with Newegg, I get my card stolen. Ridiculous! I didn’t even discuss or use my credit card during this whole process. Although, all my credit card information is still in their system. So, then my card gets hacked right after talking with them. Again, Ridiculous. So, they don’t have secure enough processes in place to insure against this. This is even more cause for concern with this company.
After all this I wanted a refund instead of replacement as I will not use this company again. I’m still waiting for a refund that apparently takes a week for them to get the hard drive back, and who knows how long to actually give the refund. A new credit card later and a bunch of irritation, I went to Amazon for a new hard drive. No problems.
They held my payment "hostage" for over a month and a half. They sent the wrong product to me and I sent it back the day after I received it. All representatives were "nice" but that doesn't cut it when you have to pay a credit card bill and they won't give your money back. My suggestion would be to go to Amazon or anywhere else.
I ordered a 6 pack of replacement ink for our printer. Ink was suppose to contain 2 black, 1 photo black and one each of yellow, blue and red. Ordered product near the end of June 2018, recieved very quickly within 5 days. Package contained 2 each of red, yellow and blue, no black or photo. Called Newegg and was told the "Seller " requested that I send the package back, was emailed a postage paid label for return. Product was sent back first week of July, was told in writing that a refund or replacement would be issued promptly.
Mind you this is a $16.99 product it's not going to break me but its the principle of the thing. Seriously thought they should have just sent me the black ink would have been less expensive for them in the long run.
Anyways I have made 3 phone calls and each time get the same type of answer, saying they must give the seller 2 days to get back with me. Well i have never heard from the seller, even confirmed they have my correct email address. On the 2nd phone call Darlene gave me the sellers phone number and replacement order number. Turns out the phone number is not in operation. Was told that product is coming from Chinia, takes 8-15 days, yet amazing on my first order only took 5 days to recieve. on my 3rd call Carlos, told me that the seller has 2 days to get back with me. Told Carlos that i have heard the same thing twice before, that I was calling by credit card company to get a credit. Carlos, told me that I should not do this that the seller needs 2 days, If I did not hear then that they would look into it. Asked how he would know if the seller reached me (since he said I did not need to call them back) he did not have a clear answer to this. He actually disconnected our conversation after i kept pressing this and stating i was calling the credit card co. I did get my credit
Its been a week later and still no contact from the seller or Newegg . Will never deal with Newegg again.
This company ripped me off for a whole grand. I put in my new address and placed an order. They shipped it to the wrong address. I had email proof from them I put the real address and seconds later email order confirmation. Their service kept trying to lie and say random things until I gave them the proof. Then they said send the police report and they will send a replacement. They were actually just trying to get me to file it without naming them as criminally fraudulent. Once I had sent them the report they backtracked and said there was nothing they could do.
I have been building PC's since the days of the first IBM AT's. Back then when you bought a component, you had no guarantee that it would fit with the other parts, it would work etc. It was basically a crap shoot in those days with components coming from unknown companies in Asia with specs often written in Korean, Chinese etc. All of which were found in the back of various computer enthusiast magazines.
After more than a few years of dealing with that, Egghead - with actual brick and mortar stores - showed up. They had customer service people who knew about hardware and software and had actual return polices for hardware that had issues. It was amazing.
Then they mutated into Newegg and had even BETTER selection, staff and policies.....
Unfortunately Newegg has made it all but impossible to get decent service for anyone without a Premier Acct which costs about 50 bucks a year. I was a member for years. It was very nice. Order something and get things shipped quickly. Hit a bump? Call them and get it resolved ASAP. If they have screwed up "Can we offer you 6 months free Premier extension?" and so on.
I have been a Premier member. I am currently NOT a Premier member.
I have now had two packages that were supposed to be at my door within 4-7 days go missing for weeks. Both times I watched them print labels 3 days after the fact, then sit on the package for a few days. When they finally ship it, instead of using REAL FedX, they use some cheaper version that moves ever so slowly across the country - often spending 2-3 days just sitting in a warehouse before moving again. And finally finishing the trip with a delivery to a post office hub 3 hours away. After that it;s slow motion watching it crawl across the state then hoping for the lousy local mail service to not lose the package. Which is fine....if I their site has said "Delivery by USPS within a month". Then I would have avoided them. But it doesn't. It says "4-7 Days". Which is a lie.
My advice. Use Newegg to get reviews and find components. Then do one of two things. Join Premier, then include that cost into the cost of the component(s) and see if the product is still cheaper than other sellers. OR just use the info from Newegg to help you pick and go elsewhere to buy, Under no circumstances do you want to buy anything from them without a Premier account. I have repeatedly spent 2-5 days calling and chatting trying to get through things like 2-hour hold times and being 150+ deep in chat queue. If I'd had Premier I would have plowed right to the front. Without it? Pfft. Very much on my own.
Finally, they no longer offer you anything when there is a problem Laughably they tell you "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do to help" and as you start to wrap up the call mindlessly ask "Is there anything else I can do to help?" LOL. "Anything ELSE I can do?"Really? Like they actually DID do something to help. Except they didn't And they won't. Add to that the 15% restock fee that they say is NOT a restock fee for things you return....lol. And you are left with the impression that they no longer care about repeat business.
Sad too because using them made it easy to determine which component I ordered from them if a friend's machine (that I built for them) is in need of an upgrade etc. I'm sure I will get over it since there's another big online retailer or two that keeps track of my order history just fine.
Join Premier or do not buy anything from them. If you do and something goes sideways? You will very much be on your own. Take care.
My credit card number was stolen due to Newegg's GROSS negligence by failing to maintain proper security over their online ordering system. My card received over $1170 in fraudulent charges.
Between August 14 and September 18, 2018 hackers had injected code into the online ordering system of Newegg.com that captured personal data including name, address, credit card #, exp. date and CVV. I had placed two large orders with them during that period. It was only by November 20, 2018 that I received ANY notification of this breach!!! The letter identified the credit card I had used by the last 4 digits. Twelve days previous that I discovered, from my bank statement, that over $1170 of fraudulent charges had been posted, beginning October 17. At that time I had no idea how that could occur. I notified the bank immediately and the credit card number was immediately canceled. Besides being grossly negligent in allowing this hacking to occur, Newegg was egregiously negligent in failing to promptly notify customers. This is outrageous for a company supposedly dealing in technology. They should be sued. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the California Attorney General. Doing business with these clowns is NOT worth the risk.
I am a consumer who lives and breathes by surveys and reviews. I will go out of my way to complete a survey and make certain the person/company receives the praise they deserve. However, I am also one who will go to great lengths to expose unscrupulous companies and vendors for what they are. I purchased a Samsung phone from Newegg.com on 09/20/2018. It has arbitrarily shut down on several occasions only to be restarted via hard reset. This past weekend, it shut down and will NOT power back up. Spent the last 2.5 hours communicating with customer service. Only to learn the value of a repeat customer to them is $15??
They robbed me of 1000 dollars.
They shipped to the wrong address due to a glitch in their system. I have bulletproof evidence because they sent me confirmation emails for the address update (done through the order form) and the actual order ship a minute later.
Afterwards, they told me they would refund or replace after I sent a police report. I did, then suddenly they told me they couldn't actually replace the item. They said to contact my debit card company, which I did. I was temporarily credited, but the credit was removed when their bank refused to pay.
I've been a big fan of newegg for a couple decades now (not sure when they started, but been ordering there for a looong time) and I felt they stood up for what was right quiet often, not backing down to patent trolls and such.
However, I just bought some parts for a new build recently and saw all their combo deals with savings posted when you buy processor and memory or processor/motherboard/memory combos. So I tried adding one to my shopping cart and removed the individual items I had. My bottom line total went up. I went back and forth a few times and my total was always higher with the combo vs just adding the individual items.
This is nothing earth shattering or horrible, but it does feel skeezy and kinda amazonish. They advertise $9 discounts or such buy buying the combo but it turns out to be $5 more? Was this a one off for my specific items or has anyone else ran into such?
This is the absolute worst run company on the planet. They use questionable vendors from far-flung parts of the world and hide behind them. I have ordered probably half a dozen (it took a while to learn my lesson) and about half of the packages arrived on time. The remainder, were late (3) damaged upon arrival (2) and outright missing (3). By the time I received the damaged and missing items - three months plus later and countless hours of trying to get someone to take responsibility - I finally got my items. There were return issues as well - if you return something to them DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR WORD AS IT HAS BEEN DONE. They do not verify or follow up, so if you initiate the return in the window - and think hey, it’s cool, I was within the return time period. Not a fat chance. I have learned that their favorite game to screw their customers is to send a note and tell
You it will take three days. After that, life goes in and before you know it several weeks have passed and you call
Back only to get a “sorry the return window
Closed x-days ago. It is criminal. And they do these shannanigans as a corporate policy apparently. Every time - each return it was a battle with these people. Go somewhere else and actually enjoy the experience of buying something cool. These people suck the marrow out of anything. Fail. Never again. ********.
Unfortunately for me, I purchased an Acer Aspire laptop from Newegg. The hard drive crashed. When I gave both Toshiba and Newegg the Model Number and Serial Number of the hard drive, guess what? They BOTH said that there was no such hard drive! As far as they both were concerned, the hard drive did not exist. Unfortunately, shortly after the laptop purchase, I bought a desktop computer for my wife for her business. I quickly bought another reputable hard drive and installed it to back up the Newegg POS every 5 minutes so that, when the Newegg illegal drive crashes, she'll have a backup. STAY AWAY FROM NEWEGG!!
These people lie, Told me that they issued my refund on May 23rd, It is the 31st of May and my credit card company said they have not seen a refund issued. @0 emails trying to get this resolved. Rip off company. Merchandise arrived damaged and they had me jump thru hoops to return it, even though, they say they give you a 30 day cooling off period- BS. I am now disputing the charge with my credit card company. These people should not be allowed to do business.
Bought car stuff.
Gave me wrong parts.
Description was on point but the image was the truth (wrong)
Sent it back for a refund at a lost for me.
Shipping through fedex took 2 week and over 1.5 weeks sending it back.
I dont have my product and lost 15$ in the difference of a refund.
Just waste your time and money elsewhere. You will be better for it.
