Question

Is my Samsung LT225 worth repairing?

Jan 31, 2012 7:11AM PST

<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">I have had a Samsung Digital View TL225 for 17 months and love it. I bought a case from amazon to keep the screen protected to prevent cracking. Maybe 3 months ago I had taken it out of the case and placed it in my bag for the most five minutes. I went to grab my camera and take a picture and the screen was black with what I would call them "digital cracks". The actual plastic screen is still intact, but I know longer can use the functions of the camera that involve the screen-so basically everything. The frontal screen still works and the camera still works, but I just can no longer change the settings or see what I am taking a picture of. Instead of buying a new camera, I really want to keep this old one, but have no idea if the costs of repair outweigh the cost of a new Samsung LT225. In your opinion, what should I do or if it is even worth trying to fix?

Without the LCD screen, there is not much you can do with the camera.
Most digital cameras have a one year warranty.
But I have seen a few cases where a digital camera has a 2 year warranty.
I suggest that you check the papers that came with the camera and be sure that the warranty has expired.

I don't know about Samsung's repair prices.
But what we hear is that just about any digital camera repair will cost over $100.
You should contact Samsung repair and see if they will give you an extimate.
Until you know how much it will cost, you can not make an assessment to repair or replace.

Thank you for your opinion.
I'll look into and check to see what their estimate would be. But by the sounds of it, buying a new one might be the best option if I don't have a warranty.
