Hard drives are easy for us common folk to swap in. I always write "do that!"
But what is there to download? I might use my restore DVDs and then copy my files from backup but that's it.
Figure under 99 bucks for most drives.
I have a dell inspiron 1525 purchased Dec 2008 for $1300 which has been having virus like problems with difficulty getting on internet recently, then suddenly couldnt even load. If you turned it on it would just stay " windows start up trying to repair" and then crash again. I took it to a computer repair place who diagnosed it with "bad hard drive, failed read and verify test" "Needs a wipe and fresh load, cannot be done on the HDD in the PC because it is too far gone" THey wanted $280 to do this. I thought that maybe I could buy a hard drive and replace it, then down load the soft ware myself. My question is "Is this possible?" "Is it worth me buying a new hard drive" The other issue is the CD drive isnt working great either...if it is possible to fix, what is the level of difficulty to do this....is there a step by step thing I could follow online? THanks for any help you have!
