Resolved Question

Is my hardware compatible?

Feb 7, 2016 7:16AM PST

I am planning on building my first pc ever. I have no prior experience except for disassembling my old pc, a ASUS CP6230
http://www.cnet.com/products/asus-cp-series-cp6230-core-i3-3240-3-4-ghz-8-gb-2-tb/specs/

The hardware from this computer is not very impressive and was not really worth salvaging except for the optical drive and the 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 hard drive. I plan on using these two parts in my new build.

My question to you, fair people of the internet, is: Does these hardware parts fit together? Do they support each other? Is there something missing? And most importantly will it work? The case I am going to be using is an old Cooler Master Elite 430 black.
Just to clarify, I am a complete computer newbie and I have little to no idea what I am doing so please feel free to dumb it down for me. Thank you!

Here is a list below of the components I wish to use.

Processor: Intel Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition G3258 3,2 GHz LGA1150

Motherboard: Asus B85M-G LGA 1150 micro-ATX

RAM: Crucial Ballistix sport DDR3 1600 MHz 8 Gt (2 x 4 Gt)

Video card: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gaming OC Edition 2048 MB

Power supply: Corsair VS450, 80 PLUS White - ATX 450 W

Hard drive: Here I plan to use the hard drive that I took from my old pc, a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB

I also plan on using the optical drive from my old pc.

Will Work But...

The Hard Drive and the optical drive will work with the new parts you listed,
But
Note that in your new setup you will have one OLD bottleneck , your HD!
While generally I don't like using old hard drives, in this case your overall performance will suffer.

I suggest adding a small SSD drive for the operational system and use the old Barracuda HD as storage .

Hope It Helps!

That cpu supports 1333 ram.
You might want to back your ram down a notch.

That mobo has a usb 3 header your case does not have a usb 3 port in the front.
Just be aware.
