No really, I'm new to all this and I need a program that will decode, play and be able to burn downloaded movies. Can u help me!
try using FFDSHOW direct encoder and QUICK TIME ALTERNATIVE then your media player will be able to play all clips
Ok, imagine this, you get a movie off a torrent. You try to play it and all that shows on the screen is something like, " You need xyz codec" or "You need Moviexplayer to view this film". Then your browser opens and leads you to a site where you can get the registration code for the "FREE" moviexplayer for a miserly sum of money. You need to use your credit card, or Paypal ??? Wonderful, the powers that be have all your details now, and know that you have downloaded an illegal copy of a copyrighted movie.
Sound feasible ???
Oh! and funny thing, the movie is supposedly 700Mb but the slide bar reaches its full travel along the bottom of Windows Media Player in about 12 seconds ???
Like I said I'm new to all this and I would appreciate a little guidance. this is my very first computer and after having it for only six months I don"t want to go getting it crashed.
I've found moviexplayer to be an ellaborate con. They get you to pay via SMS for
We can do better. look up and see NICE FREE TITLES. Let me add a new one.
KMPLAYER
Nice work!
be careful here. although it is a media player. albeit a very simple program with no real features. i paid 2.00 euro (3dollars) for it. the reason i wanted it is i had downloaded a movie and it would not play only through moviexplayer. so i bit the bullet and got and paid for the program. then it still wouldnt play the file. they have a website and a pretence of a support link. it goes nowhere. i have sent repeated emails to only fall on deaf ears. so there are loads of free media players out there. dont waste your money paying for this as its rubbish.
I got sucked in to the point of downloading this program and when it started to do some flaky things and the install was blocked by SpyBot, I came to this site and read all of your comments. Thanks for the warning. I'm running SpyBot right now to make sure it didn't deposit any unwanted bits and bytes.
i happened to come across the same situation, is there any way i can see the movie?..any other player which will play these kind of movies?
thank you in advance
ABSOLUTELY NO BLOODY WAY. I SPENT A WHOLE WEKEND ON THIS AND NO. COULD NOT PLAY IT. GOT ALL MANNER OF MEDIA PLAYERS AND NOT A CHANCE. INTERESTINGLY I EMAILED THE COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR MOVIE X COMPLAINING AND THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY. SAYING THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FILE I DOWNLOADED THAT ANOTHER COMPANY BLOCKS THE FILE. BUT REALLY WHO IS BENEFITING FROM THE BLOCKED FILE WHICH YOU DOWNLOADED. WHO GETS PAID FOR IT TO PLAY (BUT MINE NEVER PLAYED AS IS YOUR PROBLEM). SO I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WERE THEY HAPPY TO REPAY ME THE 3 EURO.
SO LONG STORY SHORT YOU CANNOT PLAY THE FILE. IF YOU USE BEARSHARE OR LIMEWIRE YOU CAN EASILY CHECK THE FILE IN ADVANCE USING BITZITICKET. BUT THE TORRENT SITES DO NOT HAVE THIS FEATURE SO YOU ARE TAKING A COMPLETE GAMBLE. IF ANYONE CAN WORK OUT HOW TO PLAY THE FILES THAT HAVE THE BANNER MOVIEXPLAYER AND FORCE YOU TO PAY THE 3 EURO PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I SEEM TO COME ACROSS THIS A LOT MORE OF RECENT TIMES AND ITS A REAL PAIN IN THE BUM.
Why not watch online. If we downloaded from a torrent site for free might as well just watch online for free. The same thing happened to me, downloaded a movie from a torrent site and upon playing the file in all my media players I see the banner moviexplayer, which also leads to a site to pay. Go figure. So I'm just going to watch online. Just an alternative
First off they want you to pay for it,
Why not pay? easy! use free base Video Land-VLC player <<<< this player can do it all play raw video all possible formats mpg avi wvm, ogg, mp4, and so on.. also it will stream video from the net or from your computer to another. also plays raw dvd file!
this MovieXplayer is crap.. all it does is give some ppl the ability to encode a movie, So you are Force to use this media player..
MovieXplayer Go Against All Of The Free to share media Movement. if you love p2p, torrents, so on plz don`t waste you money or time with this Software
Hey, so you say to use VLC player, that is what I did however it still says the same old bs about the mediaxplayer, is there something I'm missing?
look you got coned meaning you can`t watch that video without buying there media player. so just try to find another version of that video. For Vlc i was just trying to say that it plays 99% of video and that you don`t need to down load 3 party codecs like with windows media player, but in this case the video was encoded to only be play able with there media player
So, judging by the posts in this thread as well as the constant trying of other media players, if you get a video that says to use MovieXPlayer, you are not going to be able to get the movie to work any way you try. MovieXPlayer never works even if you pay for it, and it is coded a certain way so that you can only play it with MovieXPlayer, so guys just don't even bother spending the money for something that won't even work. Just find a different download if possible.
I'm shocked when I read about people paying money for this "media player". This is a scam. Period. When you encounter one of these videos, rest assured that the content you thought you were downloading does not exist in the file you have.
If you pay for the scam software, you will not be able to play the file because the file does not contain the video it says it does. There is nothing to unlock. There is no special converter needed. It's a scam.
Your only option is to delete the file. If you idiots continue giving these ******** money, they will continue polluting file sharing communities. Use a little common sense.
The latest version of VLC does not open these "movieXplayer" encoded videos.
I have been using "Usenext" for 4 years.Being a Brit "ex-pat" it was useful to download Doctor Who or Torchwood episodes quickly and efficiently. And of course new releases. But, of late, they[who cannot be held responsible for the downloads] as they always point out, have been inundated with poor Russian copies of film releases. And no "quality" releases.By "quality" I refer to titles that may not appeal to the mass "Fast & Furious" market. Two good examples would be "An Education" and " The Men Who Stare at Goats".I pointed this out to "Usenext" when they offered "a deal I couldn't refuse" if I renewed my subscription again.
Also, as Dr.Who has only a Christmas special, I can get that from "UK.Nova".
this is rubbish and a ripp off some of the videos are encoded to play with only their stupid player. but for my experience even if you shell out for the player it still wont play your movies.
The original video you downloaded that prompted you to go to buy their player was bogus. These people seed videos with fake titles, it's basically a 350mb video of that image. The fact that they would go through the trouble of making fake video titles to trick you into buying their player should speak volumes. Pretty much any time you get a message in a file prompting you to purchase a specific piece of software it should at least raise a red flag for you. Almost any legitimate video file can be played in Windows Media player if you have the right codecs installed and I believe CNET has a couple of decent codecs available in their download area. Also, VLC is is quite good as a couple others have pointed out.
We don't allow abusive content in posts in these forums, however mild, or strong.
That's why I deleted your post.

Absolutely not. I am prety au fait with pc's (though not enough obviously) and I was sucked in to this website, only after further browsing and trial of the program itself did I realise that I had been taken on. I was conned out of $9.99 and I will have to contact my credit card company to ensure that further deductions will not be made. What made me think that the website was legit was the fact that I wownloaded the "avi" file from a legitamate source. Now how to inform everyone else to this!!!
Sorry guys, but it's quite obvious to anyone that you are talking here at cnet about downloading and viewing copyrighted material. Even if one assumes you download only episodes of tv series or some documentations, these are also copyrighted and not free to download from anywhere. Also, xxx content is licensed material. Easy to suppose, the original material faked with that moviexplayer is not free of rights.
So, in a harsh conclusion, someone here is asking why a piece of warez is not working, and you, the others, who are more experienced warez leechers, give their recommendations for better success. Even the moderator takes part.
Although I'm a proponent of freedom of speech I recommend to delete this complete thread as soon as possible and then forget about it - because this is cnet and not a warez forum. And don't misunderstand me - I don't intend to protect cnet.
I was smart enough to recognize the add on the vid file for what it was. The file was labeled "Bones 3x09 - Gamer in the Grease" at 350mb. When I tried to play it only showed a video still and opened Firefox directing me to the website to DL the MovieXplayer. Attempting to play the file on Nero Showtime Player, it only played 15 seconds showing the same add. Ive got a program called "Total Video Converter" and if I convert a 350mb AVI into AVI I would expect to get a file of roughly the same size give or take a few megabytes, not 2.5mb!! meaning the other 347.5mb of the file was just padding / null data that the converter program just truncated leaving the only usable data of 15 seconds of the useless add.
Don't be suckered into getting the absolutely MovieXplayer, because as others have mentioned its a lame scam.
If you find your vid file you download has that showing on it, don't even bother trying to find a program to play it as its not even real file, its just a shell. It's as fake a 3 dollar bill. My advice is to delete it and find another source for said vid file.
So what player do you recommend?A player that can play almost everything and a freeware of course. Thanks in advance
